We already have some futureshifted cards from Future Sight leaked and everyone’s thoughts are just about: “What is that?”, I’m talking of course of the futureshifted frames:

fs_frame.jpg

These frames are only temporary, remember they are the product from a possible future and as such may not be the standard face in the future. With that said I’ll begin my analysis of this frame (it’s my personal opinion about these frames, you may of course disagree with it), first generally speaking and then by the points shown on the image.

I like the fact that the face colors are more distinguishable than in the current card face, which sometimes gives me headaches trying to sort out which colour a certain card is, I also think the rounded borders feel more stylish and don’t interfere with the card.

On to a trip along the card:

1. This is a card type symbol, it allows for an easy recognition of a card type (i.e.: when cards are fanned in hand) for more advanced players and isn’t intrusive for newer players. Overall it’s a nice addition.

2. I like the white type, I don’t understand the change to black type in the first place, as I think white is much more visible than black. Seeing the current frames have such a light color on the card name space it’s understandable why it is black, but that just bring us back to the problem of the card color itself being much more difficult to recognize at first glance.

3. I hate this little thingy hanging here. I’s fricking covering awesome card art, that is in most cases why we checked out magic in the first place. STOP COVERING MY ART YOU PIECE OF CRAP CARD FRAME ANOMALY! That said I like the little colored dot remembering you what color the card is.

4. I’m still to understand high tech symbols on a fantasy game frame. Besides, these symbols don’t stand out from the rest of the card such as the current ones, so an important part of the card was made much less visible, I can only see that as a flaw.

5. Ok, we have nice slot thingies here on the left for the mana cost, great for when we have the cards fanned in our hand, but IT’S FRICKIN’ COVERING MY ARTWORK AGAIN! WHY? Seriously, I understand all the “We want to add style and make the frame more dynamic”, but why cover the artwork? To all those people ou there saying “OMG only six slots, we’ll never see Nicol Bolas again!”, get real. 6 slots is more than enough for most cards, and for others I guess solutions could be arranged (see how the slots go way down, covered by the transparent card type box and the card text box?).

6. Transparent boxes can cover the art anytime! That’s a very cool effect in my opinion, making the art larger and at the same time not wasting all the space with it. (Sorry about the inquest watermark, that’s the only decently scanned image I could find)

7. Nothing to say about this, a nice slot for expansion symbols.

8. And now you ask “What’s wrong with this? I don’t see anything!”, exactly! It’s empty. Too empty. The artist name and copyright could be here instead of cluttering up the right side of the frame.

So the point is: Is it a nice frame? Yes, but if this turns out to be a standard card face some day it will need some improvements.

Seeing as you’re already here, check out more cards from FS:

Just thought I’d say hi to all of you and there have been a lot of people around here (just yesterday there were 140 visits and almost 1000 pageviews!!).

I’m still sick, but now I know I have some kind of ninja disease ’cause the doctor couldn’t find out what it was, regardless she prescribed me a full blitzkrieg of antibiotics to make sure everyone of the ninja invaders dies.

But the reason why I really wrote these news was to show you a new Future Sight card that got my attention over at Magic Tutor :

Force of Savagery (or so I guess)
2G
Creature - Elemental R

Trample
8/0
Yes that’s right, this little baby has 0 toughness! And as my girlfriend looked around the spoiler on Mtg Salvation she spotted this:

Char Rumbler
2RR
Creature - Elemental U

Doublestrike
{R}: Char Rumbler gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
-1/3

So yeah, that’s a 0 toughness creature and a -1 power creature. Oh Magic I am so in love with you :)
EDIT: Seems like the card isn’t named Force of Savagery but Truculent Force. Damn my translations! EDIT 2: or not…

Yesterday was Future Sight’s first Pre Release day and off course, I couldn’t miss it (You know… that kind of thing called addiction.). However, it’s a new addiction to me, so I have two big problems: lack of experience and I stress too much. So, the outcome of the tournament could’ve been worse, but it could have been really better too.

But, I wanna talk a little about that second big problem I have. I think that maybe it’s a problem to some of you too, so sharing it could be useful to make us ignore some annoying little details.

Do you know how it feels, when your opponent shuffles your deck? You think “hey…he thinks I don’t know how to shuffle, because I didn’t have that pro way of shuffling”, or “he thinks I’m trying to cheat…”. And it’s a stupid thought, ‘cause maybe he just wants to give that superior look. So: don’t be nervous just because your opponent shuffles your deck.

What about when your opponent is a real pro? Yeah, maybe you are going to loose that game or maybe not. Just don’t think that the game is already lost. If you think that, you’re probably going to make mistakes that indeed are going to make you loose.

Take your time. You can’t delay the game, but you can think! Your opponent is looking at you with that serious look? So what? Relax and surprise him.

To win a game you need to have some skills. But, hey, if you know the rules, you just need to be relaxed and pay attention to all the little things in the game that could make you win it.

So what about my deck? That’s the fun part, and I know you’re thinking about it (ok, perhaps you’re thinking “oh my god, a girl in a magic tournament”, but I’m going to talk about my deck. Maybe you don’t believe in god, but believe there are girls playing magic in tournaments).
I made a white and black deck and splashed a little green, that I changed to red in while sideboarding. And yeah… Henchfiend of Ukor / Sparkspitter made a really better splash than Kavu Primarch, but I didn’t think about that when making the deck. In white I picked Angel of Salvation, and some other flying creatures like Knight of Sursi, Cloudchaser Kestrel, Duskrider Peregrine and Plated Pegasus. I used the new enchantment with morph, and it’s really fun to see the look of surprise on your opponent when you turn it face up. In black, I got some removal like Death Rattle and some other useful stuff like the flash enchantment Oblivion Crown and Festering March (white was a right choice but black wasn’t really that good indeed). At home, even with the same time, the right choices are kinda clear, at tournaments sometimes we screw it up a little, because of that extra stress.

Well, good luck to your tournaments, and don’t let that tournament anxiety blind you.

As you probably have noticed the site’s layout has changed, it’s now a little more “wordpressy” which I hope is an improvement for people who aren’t used to be around websites.

There still might be some bugs around so if you find any I’d appreciate if you told me about it.

I’d also appreciate any feedback on the new design and navigation (what you think is worse than before, and if you want what you think is better than before), just leave a comment in this post.

Whoo hoo you can now comment on news and comics (yeah, I think it’s cool!).

Also for your info the RSS feed has changed, please update your RSS readers with the new feed. This feed will now show you news updates as well as comic updates (comic updates will have previews in the feed).

The comic will now be updated on GMT time, so you can read the comics a few hours earlier sometimes.

There’s a lot of change going on here, but I think it’s for the best. sorry for the inconvenience. Tell your friends the site has changed (’cause if anyone just uses the old feed to get updates it wont get these news because that old system was so great that news didn’t even go to the feed…).

Comic will be up on Tuesday. See ya guys (and gals) then, keep passing by and start posting comments!

I was snooping around magic sites (is there anything else to do on the net?), and I found this really cool article from Mtg Salvation.

It’s basically a summary of the most used magic slang, it’s pretty cool if you don’t know what pinging is or if you think necroing is a condemnable act with the dead.

For Heroes fans: I was stunned with the last episode, I mean, Mohinder not doing stupid shit? That’s  totally weird.

This is just too delicious not to share:
