What’s worse than playing against a pro?
Playing against a girl. No magic player can fall to a girl. It is just not acceptable!
Magic the Gathering becomes Magic the Gay Ring and the world collapses on its own. Of course many guys have lost against a girl player and with their asses served to them.
Read any booster pack, any tournament pack, it says “13+” everywhere and “boys only” nowhere. Magic is a game for everyone (even to some that aren’t 13 yet) and that’s why Magic is so successful. Young or old, male or female (and the number of girl players is on the rise it doesn’t matter, the love for the game is all the same.
But the pressure of playing against a girl still exists, magic players everywhere still think losing to a girl is humiliating, you can see their sweat gushing out in big frickin’ drops. Guys, get real, losing to a girl is the same as losing to anyone else. Girls go get them, show your Magic playing neighborhood that girls can do massive damage flippin’ cards.
On another topic: Hope you like the changes to the site. They were made for your convenience.
Over & Out, no more stuff for you to read today, I’m trying to create a boardgames and strategy games group on my university and that’s no easy task, wish me luck on my endeavor!
You guys can comment now, just click the comment thingy right there. It’s easy, and fast

well it’s worst to lose to a kid than to a girl
You want pressure?? Try playing one-on-one with a girl with a huge rack that covers most of the cards on her side of the table, and as if that wasn’t enough, has a really deep cleavage! I played against someone like that more than once in tournaments, and those were my most difficult rounds. I’m telling you, that girl really knew a thing or two about the male psyche and how to make you loose your concentration. Despite that, I crushed her easily
Good times…
I played against girls a lot of times, and they are just as good as any guy. Maybe even better sometimes. There is no real pressure playing against them except for the case I told you above.
Yeah, I’ve played with a girl with huge rack too.
It’s not easy, but at least the scenery is nice.
At the Ravnica pre-release down here in Adelaide, I played against a girl called Jessika Sexton. We were both using WR Boros decks, and we spent the entire round in one long, painful game. In the end she won because I ran out of answers after my Sunhome Enforcer got Helix’d.
The moral of the story? Girls can play just as well as me.
(But I only ever manage to win one round at these events, so that’s more of an insult than a compliment)
I usually also suck at Pre Releases. It’s my fate, to be sucky at those events!
Losing to a girl isnt humiliating. If it were, guys would be sweating bullets everytime they got hit with direct damage by a female creature. Now losing to an old man mite shake your confidence a bit, at least with magic the gathering, but such circumstances are not neccessarily common anyway. (Not that there arent any good mtg senior players out there, just so few seniors in general who play) If you want the definition of humiliating, go play mtg against a clown and lose. (I know, im just throwing random stuff out there now, I cant help it =P )
I would be completely terrified if I was playing a clown :\
Those red noses are evil!
What’s the poster in the background of this one? I can make out the others, but it’s obscured by the intensity of the guy’s angst.
Finally somebody that asked, I was wondering if there wasn’t anyone curious!
It says:
HEROES
“I can’t stop absorbing their powers” – Sliver Petrelli
If you don’t recognize the name, it’s connected to Peter Petrelli from the TV show “Heroes”.
Haha! Totally true!
But still, there are some really good female magic players out there. I got my ass kicked by a girl in a Grand Prix in Lisbon… But she played well, I have no qualms about losing. Of course I was the joke of all my friends that were there…
Dont assume that just because she’s a girl you can win easy. My sister wins against me many times, but of course I teached her well hehe
Yep, girls are just as good players as guys.
I am a female player. If you guys think you’re under pressure you’re crazy. I’ve been a gamer all over the board and the thing that gets me is guys expect me to be bad and will flirt throughout. Us ladies have to prove ourselves in 5 seconds and NEVER fall off the gaming horse. If we slip even once boys stop taking a girl seriously. That is pressure my friends.
Respect to the ladies :p
I respect my girlfriend (or else I’d get my ass kicked a lot
)
Hey, guys, thought I’d say a few words.
I really like that somebody wrote about this topic — I was going to on my own blog, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Anyways, as a female Magic player and girlfriend to one of the top players in the Bay area of Florida, I would like to mention that a lot of male players have to learn that just because they’re playing an opponent of that just so happens to be of the female persuasion, it does not herald an easy win. I myself put up quite a fight before anybody ever takes me down, so even if they beat me, I still smash their face in before they took my last blip of life. xD I have won my fair share of matches, and all the men at my local comic shops now give me respect as Magic player, which I greatly appreciate.
I’ve got one more thing to say on the matter of other female Magic players. Once upon a time, like three weeks ago, there was another female player at my home base. Turns out she was somebody’s girlfriend. Well, the most perplexing thing was this: every time she would show up, she was nearly topless. That’s how much boob she was showing. O_o She and her boy-toy broke up, and I don’t see her around the shop anymore, but now all the guys are sad because they lost their “eye candy.”
Also, I’ve attended several PTQs and regionals near my area, and although the number of female players are limited at these events, every single one of them had something in common besides the fact that they were playing Magic at that particular event: They all had no qualms at showing ample amounts of cleavage.
So why is that while the sterotype is that male Magic players don’t respect the Females, the Females are also bearing a lot of boob when gaming? Could the boobs be blamed for such occurance of the alledged disrespect?
I can’t help notice that I’m always the only female at those events, even the local tournament scene, who wears a t-shirt and blue jeans at every event. (I’m also the only female that ever makes any of the rankings when it comes to actually winning matches, but that might not have any actual correlation to the skin-to-clothing ratio of my competition….)
So there we have it. Five dollars worth of me putting in two cents. xD The question remains — should I forsake my t-shirts and comfortable jeans for tank tops and unbuttoned blouses just to gain unfair game advantage? Nah. If I’m winning a game, it’s because I played the game, not because I have breasts.
